Welcome to '09!

Sat Feb 14, 2009, 7:35 PM
The mandatory life update: I'm out of college and I have a job working with some really great kids. I love it; though I'm debating whether to stay with it or to pursue a librarian's career. I keep changing my mind and at this rate I'll never get into grad school. Anyone want to be a reference and write me a letter to get into Pitt?

Anyway, spring is on its way again. Winter is fighting back - we went from 60* at the beginning of the week to 30* and snowing heavily this afternoon, but I'll take what precious little sunshine we are getting and be glad for it, because it means I finally get to look forward to getting up with the sun, instead of before it. There's just something depressing about getting out of bed into a cold, dark room, working all day under fluorescent lights, going out to someone else's home after school instead of your own, and getting back to your cold, dark room already past sundown. Short winter days suck the life and energy out of me all too well.

Haven't done much in the way of creativity since November when I finally struggled hard enough to win NaNoWriMo for the first time since I started participating 6 years ago. I haven't looked at the 50k tangle of words masquerading as a novel since my laptop screen died and I validated with 2 hours left on November 31 in a flurry of cursing and prayers, but at least I wrote it. I figure I'll edit some of my previous novels first, since Angel in My Pocket has been screaming at me to do something with it lately, and then I'll get back to... well, whatever it was I called my '08 brain-slop. I forget - I mostly slapped a title on it to add to the wordcount. NaNo may have been great for my productivity, but it was painful for my perfectionist side.
